Dr. Jennie E. Zavaleta DNP, PMHNP-BC

Dr. Jennie Zavaleta is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Capella University. She also holds a Post-Master’s Certificate in Psychiatry and Mental Health from Frontier Nursing University in Versailles, Kentucky. As a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International, Dr. Zavaleta has specialized training in treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, including postpartum depression and anxiety.

Her clinical background is diverse and rooted in compassionate care. Dr. Zavaleta has worked with children, adolescents, and adults in both outpatient and inpatient psychiatric settings. From supporting families during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic to helping individuals navigate complex mental health conditions, she brings experience, empathy, and dedication to every patient encounter.

Dr. Zavaleta believes in a holistic, preventative approach to mental health. She creates personalized treatment plans that honor the whole person—mind, body, and life circumstances. Her goal is to offer thoughtful, evidence-based care that meets each individual where they are.

She sees patients ages 6 and older, including those in the perinatal period.

With more than fourteen years in the healthcare field, Dr. Jennie Zavaleta has cultivated a broad clinical background through her work in multiple settings, including child adolescent, adult and geriatric psychiatry, addiction, and adult behavioral health services.

Her early professional focus centered on supporting young people with emotional and behavioral disorders, as well as individuals navigating mood-related challenges. Over time, she developed a strong clinical experience and specialization in ADHD, becoming highly skilled in its assessment, diagnosis, and long-term management.

Dr. Zavaleta’s work across various environments has deepened her understanding of the many factors that influence mental wellness—not just biological components, but also relationships, social identity, trauma exposure, and everyday life stressors.

Her clinical scope includes both inpatient and outpatient care, where she has successfully treated a range of psychiatric conditions such as:

Major Depression , Generalized Anxiety, Bipolar Spectrum Disorders, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD),Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Borderline Personality Disorders (BPD) and more.
